Home to about 3700 people, Colden Common includes the much smaller settlements of Brambridge, Highbridge, Hensting, Fishers Pond, Lords Wood, and the curiously named Nobs Crook.

There's no such thing as the Dog Poo Fairy

Whilst the vast majority of dog owners are extremely responsible and diligent in clearing up after their dogs, a small minority are not. The problem of dog fouling in the village is on  the increase and the number of complaints has increased significantly in recent weeks. Parents walking their children to school along St Vigor Way  have reported that the problem has become much worse recently and this is echoed by users of the open spaces in the village. The severe health risks for children posed by dog fouling not being collected by dog owners and deposited in the bins specifically provided for the purpose, have been highlighted recently in the national press based on the tragic case of toddler, Aimee, who hit the headlines after falling in dog poo and losing partial sight in her eye after suffering with toxocariasis.

The Parish Council is committed to trying to minimise this problem and is liaising with Winchester City Council's dog warden service to combat this very anti-social behaviour on the part of some dog owners.

 Please support this initiative.

CCPC Logo

Our logo designed by the Youth Parish Council features a close-knit combination of two letter C's, trees and bricks. Woodlands are prominent in the area, and the former brick-making from local clay has left its traces in the names of Brickmakers Road and Kiln Lane. You'll see our logo and mast head with navigation buttons at the top and bottom of every page to make browsing easier.
